Oppression On Sayyeda Fatema Zahra (sa)

Image

Umar ibn Suhaak ordered Qunfuz to whip Fatema Zahra (sa) and he engaged in this heinous task with great force and brutality. He lashed her back and her arms to the extent that the signs of the whipping were soon visible on her body.
[Ilmul Yaqeen vol 2 page 677]

In another narration, it is reported that Qunfuz struck her face due to which her eyes were severely injured.
[Seeratul Aimmah Isna Ashar, vol 1 page 145]

In another report, it is narrated that Qunfuz pushed her so hard that her ribs were smashed by the impact and the child in her womb breathed his last. Then she remained bed-ridden in this condition till the last of her life.
[Sulaym ibne Qays pg 75; Amali al Sadooq pg 114; Behaarul Anwaar vol 10 page 44; Irshadal Quloob pg 295 and many others]

Another narration states that Qunfuz struck her with the whip on her face, her sides and her arms such that the blue marks of the injuries remained on her arms till she was martyred. If not anything, one can surely say that this event was the primary cause for her martyrdom.
[Sulaym ibne Qays pg 134; Kaukabe’ Durriya vol 1 pg 194/195; Hadeeqatush Shiah pg 30]

Another report mentions that Khalid bin Waleed struck her with his sword.

Yet another report informs us that Khalid ibne Waleed pushed the door with great force on her. It is for this reason historians hold Khalid responsible for the death of Mohsin in the womb of his mother.
[Al Kashkol pg 73/74; Hadeeqatush Shiah pg 30]

As per another narration it is reported that, Moghayrah ibne Sho’bah struck her with his sword with such force that she bled profusely. Or that he caused the door to fall on her womb. Historians have also held Moghayrah reponsible for martyrdom of Mohsin.
[Al Ihtejaj pg 27; Jalael Uloom by Sayyed Shobbar vol 1 pg 193]

A report relates that Umar ibne Suhaak spoke to the people who had gathered around him, “Strike Fatemah and beat her.”
Upon hearing this, the people rained blows and lashes upon her. The beloved of the Holy Prophet (sawa) was drenched in her own blood. The effect of of this hardhearted lashing remained with her till she was finally martyred.
[Mo’tamar Ulema Baghdad pg 63]

Some narrations state that Umar struck Sayyeda Fatemah (sa) with the sheath of his sword, and lashed her with a whip till her arms were blackened by the wounds. And these marks remained with her till she died.

‘Hadeeth al-Haqeeqa’

To drive home the point that we will never understand the magnanimity of Imam Ali (as), I’ll conclude with the words he gave to Kumayl ibn Ziyad, a close companion of his, when he asked the Imam (as) in the most monumental discussion between the two. It’s a discussion that philosophers have been trying to understand until present day. And until today no philosopher has grasped the meaning. This discussion is known as Hadeeth al-Haqeeqa.

Image

Kumayl narrates that Imam Ali (as) was riding his horse and I was riding behind him. And as we were riding I called out to him asking “Oh Ameeru’l Mu’mineen What is the truth? Who are you really?”

Imam Ali (as) replied to Kumayl and asked him, “What have you got to do with the truth?

Kumayl replied, “When you come to the door of bounties, it is known that you never turn anyone away.”

So Imam Ali (as) said, “What sprinkles in you, overflows in me,”

He (as) continued, “The truth is the revelation of the Splendor of the Divine Majesty without a sign,”

Kumayl said, “I don’t understand what you mean. Tell me more.”

Imam Ali (as) said, “It’s the defacement of the conjectured through the clearing of the known,”

Kumayl said, “I don’t understand; but continue telling me what is the truth,”

He (as) said, “It’s the rendering of the veils by the triumph of mystery,”

He said, “Tell me more,”

“It’s the Divine Attraction, but through the apprehension of the known,”

“Tell me more”

“It’s the light of the morning eternity, that continues to radiate through the unity of the temples and their disunity”

Kumayl, like the rest of us, didn’t have a clue as to what Ameeru’l Mu’mineen had meant, and it goes to show just how well we really know our beloved Ali ibn Abi Talib (as). Kumayl just says He (as) continued riding his horse, and I continued riding mine. This is Imam Ali (as) showing us that we will never, not ever, understand who he is and his relationship with Allah.

Kumayl appropriately says that when he lost Ali ibn Abi Talib he lost the secrets of Allah on earth. Hence Imam Ali (as) constantly saying to the Muslims “Ask me, Ask me, before it’s too late and you lose me!” And the most tragic part is that the non-Muslims, the Jews and the Christians who had read about the successor to the Prophet Muhammad (sawa) named Ali (as) in their scriptures, took more advantage of his knowledge than did the Muslims.

The Muslims used him and abused him, took away his rights, and fought to the death against him, until finally an orphan who he had raised who was bought by Mu’awiya struck the blessed head of Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) on the 19th of Shahr Ramadan while he was coming up from sujood in a voluntary prayer before Fajr.

This is the man who is mentioned in Deuteronomy. This is the man who knew the entire interpretation of the Quran and said the entire meaning of the Quran is contained in Sura Fatihah. And the entire meaning of Sura Fatiha is contained in ‘Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim’, and the entire meaning of ‘Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim’ is contained in the first letter: ‘Ba’, and the entire meaning of the ‘Ba’ is contained in the dot underneath the ‘Ba’, and I am that dot. This is the man in whose lap the Holy Prophet rested his head in his final moments as he left this world. This is the man who could give you an exegesis of the Holy Quran in over 6,999 languages, and even write it in cuneiform script. When the Prophet of Allah (sawa) went on the Night ascension into the levels of Paradise crossing different dimensions, when he finally reached his Lord, the voice Allah communicated to him with was with the voice of Imam Ali (as) because as Allah said, he had no other friends on earth beside Imam Ali (as). I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface.

Umar ibn Suhaak gathered a large group which included the companions, Mojahir, Ansar, those who were freed after the conquest of Mecca, hypocrites, some weak Arabs, foot soldiers and led them to the house of Sayyeda Fatema Zahra (sa).
A narration states that group was made up on 300 people. Some narrations have even reported a higher number.
Some of the names of the members of group were recorded as 21.

The Mosque

THE MOSQUE

The Mosque is the House of Allah:

Imam Jafar (as) said,
“It is incumbent upon you to attend the mosque for verily they are the houses of Allah (swt) on Earth. And whoever enters them having purified himself, Allah (swt) will purify him of his sins and will record him down as one of its frequenters, to perform many prayers and supplications there in.”
[Amali al Sadooq pg. 293 no 8]

Maintaining the Mosques:

The Holy Prophet (sawa) was asked by Abu Zarr (ra) how to maintain the mosques, to which he replied,
“Voices should not be raised there in, nor engrossment in wrongdoing. There should be no buying or selling, and all vain talk must be shunned as long as you are inside. If you do not do this, then you will have no to blame but yourself on the Day of Resurrection.”
[Makarim al Akhlaq v 2, pg. 374, no 2661]

Imam Jafar (as) said,
“He who builds a mosque, Allah (swt) will order a house to be built for him in Paradise.”
[Al-Kafi v 3, p 378, no 1]

Walking to the Mosques:

The Holy Prophet (sawa) said,
“He who walks to the Mosque asking people to join him along the way gets the equivalent of seventy thousand (70000) good deeds for every step he takes, and he is raised as many level, and if he dies on the way, Allah (swt) assigns seventy thousand angels to visit him in his grave to keep him company in his loneliness and to seek forgiveness for him until the day he is raised again.”
[Behaar ul Anwaar, v 76, p 336, no 1]

Sitting in the Mosque:

The Holy Prophet (sawa) said,
“O Abu Zarr verily as long as you remain seated in the mosque Allah, most High, will grant you an extra level in Paradise for every breath you take, the angels send salutations on you, and ten good deeds are recorded and ten evil deeds wiped away for every breath you take there in.”
[Behaar al Anwaar, v 77 p 85 no 3]

Neighbouring the Mosque and Praying Therein:

Imam Ali (as) said,
“The prayer of one who lives neighbouring the mosque (yet prays at home) is null and void unless he prays inside the mosque, except if he has an excuse or if he is sick”
When asked who was considered as neighbouring the mosque, he replied,
“Anyone who hears the call to prayer.”
[Behaar ul Anwaar v 83, p 379, no 47]

Imam Ali (as) said,
“The sanctuary of the mosque extents to forty cubits, and its neighbouring precinct extends to forty houses on all sides.” {Cubit – unit of measurement between 0.6 and 0.8 metres (ed)]
[Al-Khisal, p 544, no 20]

Etiquette’s of the Mosque:

The Holy Prophet (sawa) said,
“Do no use the mosques as mere passageways until you have prayed two units of prayer therein.”
[Amali al Sadooq, p 344 no 1]

The Holy Prophet (sawa) said,
“Whoever has eaten this pungent herb (i.e.  garlic) should not approach our mosque. As for one who has eaten it and does not come to the mosque (as a result), there is no blame on him for it.”
[Behaar ul Anwaar v 84, p 9, no 83]

SERMON OF SAYYEDA FATEMA (sa) AFTER FADAK WAS SNATCHED BY ABU BAKR & UMAR.

SERMON OF SAYYEDA FATEMA (sa) AFTER FADAK WAS SNATCHED BY ABU BAKR & UMAR.

Praise be to Allah for that which He bestowed (upon us); and thanks be to Him for all that which He inspired; and commended in His name for that which He Provided:  From prevalent favors which He created, And abundant benefactions which He offered and perfect grants which He presented; (such benefactions) and their number is too much too plentiful to compute; Bounties too vast to measure; Their limit was too distant to realize; He recommended to them (His creatures) to gain more (of His benefaction) by being grateful for their continuity; He ordained Himself praiseworthy by giving generously to His creatures; I bear witness that there is no God beside Allah (swt) Who is One without partner, a statement which sincere devotion is made to be its interpretation; praise guarantee its continuation, and illuminated in the minds is its sensibility. He who cannot be perceived with vision; neither be described with tongues; nor can imagination surround His state.

He originated things but not from anything without examples to follow. Rather, He created them with His might and dispersed them according to His will; not for a need did He create them; nor a benefit (for Him) and He shape them, but to establish His wisdom, Bring attention to His obedience, manifest His might, lead His creation to humbly venerate Him, and to exalt His decree. He then made the reward for His obedience, and punishment for his disobedience, so as to protect His creatures from His worth and amass them into His Paradise.

I too bear witness that my Father, Muhammad (sawa) is His slave and Messenger, Whom He chose prior to sending him, named him before sending him; when creatures were still concealed in that which was transcendental, guarded from that which appalling, and associated with the termination and nonexistence. For Allah the Exalted knew that which was to follow, comprehend that which will come to pass, and realized the place of every event. Allah (swt) has sent (Muhammad) as perfection for His commands, a resolution to accomplish His rule, and an implementation of the decree of His Mercy. So he found the nations to vary in their faith; Obsessed by their fires, worshipping their knowledge of Him. Therefore, Allah (swt) illuminated their darkness with my Father, Muhammad (sawa), uncovered obscurity from their hearts, and cleared the clouds from their insights. He revealed guidance among the people; So he delivered from being led astray, led them away from misguidance, guided them to the proper religion, and called them to the straight path.

Allah (swt) then chose to recall him back in mercy, love and preference. So, Prophet Muhammad (sawa) is in comfort from burden from this world, He (sawa) is surrounded by devoted angels, the satisfaction of the Merciful Lord, and the nearness of the powerful King.

So may the praise of Allah (swt) be upon my Father, the Prophet, Trusted one, the Chosen one from among His creatures, and His sincere friend, and may peace and blessings of Allah (swt) be upon him’.

Sayyeda Fatema (sa) then turned to the crowd and said:

“Surely you are Allah (swt) slaves at His command and Prohibition; You are the the bearers of His religion and revelation; You are Allah (swt) trusted ones with yourselves, and His messengers to the nations. Amongst you does He have righteous authority; A covenant He brought unto you, and an heir He left to guard you; That is the eloquent book of Allah (swt): The truthful Quran; The brilliant light; The shining beam; its insights are indisputable; Its secrets are revealed; its indications are manifest; and its followers are blessed by it. (The Quran) leads its adherents to goodwill; and Hearing it leads to salvation; with it are bright divine authorities achieved, His prohibited decrees avoided; His manifest evidence recognized; His satisfying proofs made apparent, His permission granted, and His law written.

So Allah (swt) made belief to be purification for you from polytheism.

He (swt) made Prayer, exaltation for you conceit.

Alms – Purification for the soul and a (cause of) growth in subsistence.

Fasting an implantation of devotion.

Pilgrimage – A construction of religion.

Justice – A harmony of the hearts.

Obeying us (AhlulBayt) Management of the nation.

Our Leadership (Ahlulbayt) Safeguard from disunity.

Jihad (struggle) a strengthening of Islam.

Patience – A helping course for deserving (divine) reward.

Ordering goodness (Amr Bin Maruf) Public welfare.

Kindness to the Parents. A safeguard from wrath.

Maintaining close relations with ones kin – A cause for a longer life and multiplying the number of descendants.

Retaliation (Qesas) – For sparing blood (souls).

Fulfilment of weights and measures – A cause for preventing the neglect of others rights.

Forbidden of drinking wines an exaltation from atrocity.

Avoiding slander – A veil from curse.

Abandoning theft-a reason for deserving chastity.

Allah (swt) has also prohibited polytheism so that one can devote himself to His Lordship. Therefore; Fear Allah (swt) as He (swt) should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam.

Obey Allah in that which He (swt) has commanded you to do and that which He (swt) has forbidden, for surely those truly fear among His servants, who have knowledge.”

Sayyeda Fatemah Zahra (sa) then added,

O People! Be informed that I am Fatima, and my father is Muhammad I say that repeatedly and initiate it continuously; I say not what I say mistakenly, nor do I do what I do aimlessly.

Now hath come unto you an Apostate from amongst yourselves; It grieves him that you should perish; ardently anxious is he over you; to the believers he is most kind and merciful. Thus, if you identify and recognize him, you shall realize that He is my Father and not the Father of any of your women; the brother of my cousin (Ali) rather than any of your men. What an excellent identity he was, may the peace and blessings of Allah (swt) be upon him and his descendants? Thus, he propagated the Message, by coming out openly with the warning, and while inclined away from the path of polytheists, (whom he) struck their strength and seized their throats, while he invited (all) to the way of the Lord with wisdom and defeated heroes, until their group fled and turned their backs. So night revealed its dawn; righteousness uncovered its genuineness; the voice of religious authority spoke out loud; the evil discords were silenced; The crown of hypocrisy was diminished; the tightening of infidelity and desertion were untied.

So you spoke the statement of devotion amongst a band of starved ones; and you were on the edge of a hole of fire; (you were) the drink of the thirsty one; the opportunity of the desiring one; the fire brand of him who passes in haste; the steps for feet; you used to drink from the water gathered on roads; eat jerked meat. (Sayyeda Fatema was stating their lowly situation before Islam)  You were despised outcasts always in fear of abduction from those around you. Yet, Allah rescued you through my Father, Muhammad (sawa) after much ado, and after he was confronted by the mighty men, the Arab beasts, and the demons of the people of the Book Who, whenever they ignited the fire of war, Allah (swt) extinguished it; and whenever the thorn of the devil appeared, or a mouth of the polytheists opened  and wide in defiance, he would strike its discords with his brother (Ali) who comes not back until he treads its wings with the sole of his feet, and extinguishes its flames with its sword. (Ali is) diligent in Allah’s affair, near to the Messenger of Allah, A master among Allah’s worshippers, setting to work briskly, sincere in his advice, earnest and exerting himself (in service to Islam); While you were calm, gay and feeling safe in your comfortable lives, waiting for us to meet disasters, awaiting the spread of news, you fell back during every battle, and took to your heels at times of fighting. Yet, When Allah (swt) chose His Prophet (sawa) from the dwell of His prophets, and the abode of His sincere (servants); the thorns of hypocrisy appeared on you, the garment of faith became worn out, The misguided ignorant(s) spoke out and the sluggish ignorant came to the front and brayed. The he camel of the vain wiggled his tail in your courtyard and your courtyards and the Devil stuck his head from its place of hiding and called upon you, he found you responsive to his invitations, and observing his deceits.

He then aroused you and found you quick (to answer him), and invited you to wrath, therefore; you branded other than your camels and proceeded to other than your drinking places. Then while the era of Holy Prophet (sawa) was still near, the gash was still wide, the scar had not yet healed, and the Messenger was not yet buried. A (quick) undertaking as you claimed, aimed at preventing discord (trial), Surely, they have fallen into trial already! And indeed Hell surrounds the unbelievers, How preposterous! What an idea!

What a falsehood! For Allah (swt)’s Book is still amongst you, its affairs are apparent; its rules are manifest; its signs are dazzling; its restrictions are visible, and its commands are evident. Yet, indeed you have casted it behind your backs! What! Do you detest it? Or according to something else you wish to rule? Evil would be the exchange for the wrongdoers! And if anyone desires a religion other than Islam (Submission to Allah), it never will be accepted from him; And in the hereafter, he will be in the ranks of those who have lost. Surely you have not waited until its stampede seized, and it became obedient, you then started arousing its flames, instigating its cool, complying with the call of the misled devil, quenching the light of the manifest religion, and extinguished the sincere light of the Prophet. You concealed sips on froth and proceeded towards his (the Prophet) kin and children in swamps and forests (meaning you plot against them in deceitful ways), but we are patient with you as we are being notched with knives and stung by spearheads in our abdomens, Yet-now you claim that there is not inheritance for us! What! “Do they then seek after a judgement of (the Days of) ignorance? But How, for a people whose faith is assured can give better judgement than Allah (swt)? Don’t you know? Yes, indeed it is obvious to you that I am his daughter.

O Muslims! Will my inheritance be usurped?

[Addressed to Abu Bakr]

O son of Abu Quhafa!  Where is it in the Book of Allah (swt) that you inherit you father and I do not inherit mine? Surely you have come up with an unprecedented thing. Do you intentionally abandon the Book of Allah (swt) and cast it behind your back? Do you not read where it says: ‘And Sulaiman inherited Dawood’? And when it narrates the story of Zakariya and says: ‘So give me an heir as from thyself (one that) will inherit me, and inherit the posterity of Yaqoob.’ And: ‘But kindred by hood have prior rights against each other in the Book of Allah (swt).’

And: Allah (swt) (thus) directs you as regard to the male, a portion equal to that of two females’ And, if he leaves any goods, that he makes a bequest to parents and next of kin according to reasonable usage; this is due from pious ones’ You claim that I have no share! And that I do not inherit my father! What! Did Allah (swt) reveal a Quranic verse regarding you, from which He excluded my father? Or do you say: ‘These (Fatima and her father) are the people of two faiths, they do not inherit each other?!’

Are we not, me and my father, a people adhering to one faith? Or is that you have more knowledge about the specifications and generalizations of the Quran than Father and my cousin (Imam Ali)? So, here you are! Take it! (Ready with) its nose rope and saddled! But if shall encounter you on the Day of Gathering; (thus) what a wonderful judge is Allah (swt) a claimant is Muhammad (sawa) and a day is the day of Rising. At the time of the to Hour shall the wrongdoer lose; and it shall not benefit you regret (your actions) then! For every benefit you to regret (your actions) then! For every Message, there is a time limit; and soon shall ye know who will be inflicted with torture that will humiliate him, and who will be confronted by an everlasting punishment.

Sayyeda Fatema (sa) then turned towards the Ansars and said,

“O you people of intellect! The strong supporters of the nation!  And those who embraced Islam; What is this short coming in defending my right? And what is this slumber (while you see) injustice (being done towards me)? Did not the Messenger of Allah, my father, used to say: A man is upheld (remembered) by his children’? O how quick have you violated (his orders)?! How soon have you plotted against us? But you are still capable (of helping me in) my attempt, and powerful (to help me) in that which I request and (in) my pursuit (of it). Or do you say, ‘Muhammad (sawa) has perished.’

Surerly this is a great calamity; Its damage is excessive its injury is great; Its wound (is much too deep) to heal.

The Earth has darkened with his departure, the stars eclipsed for his calamity; hopes were seized; mountains submitted; sanctity was violated, and holiness was encroached upon after his death. Therefore, this, is by Allah (swt) is the great affliction, and the great calamity there is not an affliction which is like of it; there is nor will there be a sudden misfortune (as surprising as this).

The Book of Allah- excellent in praising him- announced in the courtyards (of your houses) in the place where you spend your evenings and mornings; A call, A cry, A recitation, and (verses) in order, It had previously came upon His (Allah’s) Prophets and Messengers; (for it is) A decree final, and a predestination fulfilled: “Muhammad (sawa) is not but an Apostle; many were the apostles that passed away before him. If he died or was slain, will ye then turn back on your heels? If any did turn any back on his heels, not from the least harm will he do Allah (swt); but Allah (swt) (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve Him) with gratitude”

O you people of reflection; will I be usurped the inheritance of my father while you hear and see me?! (And while) You are sitting and gathered around me? You hear my call, and are included in the (news of the) affair? (But) You are numerous and well equipped! (You have) the means and power, and the weapons and the shield, Yet, the call reaches you but you do not answer; the cry comes to you but you do not come to help? (This) While you are characterized by struggle, known for goodness and welfare, the selected group (which was chosen), and the best ones chosen by the Messenger for us, AhlulBayt (as). You fought the Arabs, bore with the pain and exhaustion, struggled against the nations, and resisted their heroes. We were still, so were you in ordering you, in obeying us. So that Islam became triumphant, the accomplishment of the days came near, the fort of polytheism was subjected the outburst of was subjected the outburst of infidelity calmed down, and the system of religion was well-ordained. Thus (why have you) become confused after clearness? Conceal matters after announcing them? Turned on your heels after daring? Associated (others with Allah) after believing? Will you not fight people who violated their oaths? Plotted to expel the Apostle and became aggressive by being the first (to assault) you? Do ye fear them? Nay, it is Allah (swt) whom ye should more justly fear, if you believe!

Nevertheless, I see that you are inclined to easy living; dismissed he who is more worthy of guardianship (Imam Ali); You secluded yourselves with meekness and dismissed that which you accepted. Yet, if you show ingratitude, ye and all on earth together, yet, Allah (swt) free of all wants, worthy of all praise. Surely I have said all that I have said with full knowledge that you intent to forsake me, and knowing the betrayal that your hearts sensed. But it is the state of soul, the effusion of fury, the dissemination of (what is) the chest and presentation of the proof. Hence, here it is! Bag it (leadership and) put it on the back of an ill she camel, which has a thin hump with everlasting disgrace, marked with the wrath of Allah (swt) and the blame of ever (which leads to) the Fire of (wrath of Allah) kindled (to a blaze), that which doth mount (right) to the hearts; For, Allah (swt) witnesses what you do, and soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! And I am the Daughter of a warner (the Prophet) to you against a severe punishment. So, act and so will we, and wait, and we shall wait.”

Allah (swt) Curse the Ones Who Usurped the Rights of Sayyeda Fatema (sa)

‘AhlulBayt’

Imam Ali said to Abu Tufayl –

O Abu Tufayl, By God, if I tell all Shia who, in war, are with me and who
have obeyed me, and call me Amirul Mumineed and have accepted it to be
lawful to fight along with me against my enemies, if I keep telling them for
months, the truth that I know from the Book which Archangel Jibra’eel
brought to the Holy Prophet (SAW), then these people will go away from
me, until I will be lieft in a very small group of people who believe in truth,
like you and a few Shias like you.”

Tufayl said: “O Amirul Mumineen, will I, and
people like myself turn away from you, or will they remain firmly with
you?” He said: “No, No, you will remain firmly with me.”

Them Imam Ali turned to Abu Tufayl and said: “Our matters are very tough and difficult. Only three types of Allah’s creation can accept them. Either an angel, who is extremely close to Allah or Prophets of high rank or those human beings whom Allah has tested.”

[ Kitab e Sulaym ibn Qays al Hillali ]

Syeda Zainab (sa)

Lady ZAINAB’s grandfather, from the maternal side, was prophet muhammad (p.b.u.h) who exploded spring of knowledge and wisdom on this earth, founded the features of civilization and development, constructed a noble society controlled by justice and law, smashed the customs, superstitions, and pagans of the savage, tribal society that prevailed in the arab peninsula, called for worshipping the one creator, and brought to his nation abundant goodness. indeed, almighty allah sent prophet muhammad (pbuh & hp) as mercy for humankind. Image

From this great personality, lady ZAINAB inherited defense of the haqq and struggle for elevating the word of Allah highly.

Her grandmother, from the maternal side, was khadijah who supported islam in its darkest days, struggled for sake of Allah in the ever-best way, and spent her entire fortune for sake of her religion. she therefore has been one of the two supports on which islam relied in existence. the prophet (pbuh & hp) used to appreciate for his loyal wife her situation in her life and after her death.

From this great grandmother, lady ZAINAB inherited the highest moral standards and perseverance on principles. copying her grandmother, she supported her brother, imam al-husayn (AS), in his revolution and supplies his great uprising with elements of eternity.

Lady ZAINAB’s father is imam ‘ali amir al-mu’minin (commander of the faithful believers): chief of the prophets’ successors, leader of the pious ones, and head of the worshippers. ‘ali was the representative, successor, and heir of prophet muhammad (pbuh & hp).

His merits are innumerable and his situations for sake of Allah are incomparable. He was the most knowledgeable, the most self-possessed, the most magnanimous, the most generous, the most ascetic, the most courageous, the most reputable the best worshipper, the most loyal, the most faithful, and the most pious among all.

Lady Zaynab contained all elements of nobility and virtue that Almighty Allah bestowed upon he grandfather, her father, her mother, and her two brothers. She inherited their peculiarities and copied their high moral standards.

By virtue of her ethical inheritance and unmatched peculiarities, Lady Zaynab is indeed the greatest Lady in Islam as she signalized its true values and principles. Along with her mother, Lady Zaynab struggled in the best way and stood firmly against the factional currencies that tried, using all their possibilities and powers, to throw curtains on the real leaders and guide of the Islamic ummah.

In the same way as Lady fatimah al-Zahra stopped strongly with Imam ‘Ali (AS) and opposed the Illegal government of Abu Bakr through her splendid speech as well as her honorable situations, Lady Zaynab stopped to the last spark of life with her brother, Imam al-Husayn (AS) and opposed the black government of the Umayyad rulers who aimed, openly and frankly, at uprooting Islam and erasing its existence by excluding the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) from the Muslims’ social and political lives.

Since early life, Lady Zaynab armed herself with steadfastness against misfortunes. She first was deprived of her grandfather, Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h), who loved her very much and sympathized with her.

She then saw the horrible events that surprised her parents immediately after the Prophet’s demise. Her father was taken away from the position that almighty Allah and Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) chose for him. Her mother was severely mistreated by the people until she departed life while she was in the flush of her youth. She then saw people of Kufa cheat her brother, Imam al-Hasan (AS), and let him down to the degree that he had to make a peace treaty with Mu’awiyah, the mortal enemy of Islam and the Ahl al-Bayt (AS). A few years later, the Imam was assassinated by poison, She saw him vomit blood to death.

On the tenth of Muharram, 61 AH, she had to see the ever bitterest adversities; her brother, Imam al-Husayn (AS), yielded to after he had lost all supporters and helpers; the swords of the wicked Umayyad soldiers killed the Alawid youths, children, and even babies.

Before all these unbearable misfortunes, Lady Zaynab stood like an unshakable mountain. She faced all these with the weapon of steadfastness and resisted all the events with conviction. Thus, she is intended in Almighty Allah’s saying:

“And give good news to the patient who, when a misfortune befalls them, say: Surely we are Allah’s and to Him we shall surely return. Those are they on whom are blessings and mercy from their Lord.”(2:255-7)

Many poets have depicted Lady Zaynab’s steadfastness in the most beautiful and expressive way.

She, being the Prophet’s granddaughter, showed steadfastness and endurance before the enemies of Allah. By virtue of her determination and persistence, Lady Zaynab could withstand all adversities and misfortunes.

Dignity was always a prominent feature in the personality of Lady Zaynab. After the killing of Imam al-Husayn (AS), she, as well as the Prophet’s granddaughter, were taken as captives from Karbala to Kufa and all their personal properties were usurped. While the children were harshly harmed by hunger, she looked down upon asking some food from the soldiers of the Umayyad army. When the captives’ caravan arrived in Kufa, and the women there knew that the captives had been the Prophet’s family, they hurried to serve some food for the children.
Preventing this thing, Lady Zaynab spoke to the ladies of Kufa:
“It is forbidden for us, the Ahl al-Bayt, to have from alms.”

As soon as they heard these words from their aunt, the child threw from their hands and even mouths everything they had taken from these ladies and preferred feeling hungry to accepting alm that are forbidden for them.

This is the fruit of the education of the choice ones; the prophets, the veracious, and their real followers.

Along the captives’ journey from Kufa to Damascus, Lady Zaynab, because of her disdain and sense of honor, did not ask for any aids for the children and women though they were in urgent need for such.

Thus, Lady zaynab did not succumb to anything other than Almighty Allah. She showed dignity, honor, and disdain inherited from her granfather and father in spite of hardships.

Lady Zaynab behaved so courageously before the criminals who killed her brother. As she had to stop before ‘Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad, the governor of Kufa, while she was considered as captive, she despised and disrespected him. He therefore showed his gloating over her misfortunes by saying, “Thanks to Allah Who unmasked, killed, and belied your revolution.”

As a reply, she said courageously:
Thanks to Allah Who honored us with His Prophet and purified us from uncleanness thoroughly. It is only the purified us from uncleanness thoroughly. It is only the lewd whom is unmasked, and it is only the dissolute whom is belied. We are not any of these two. Indeed, we are not any of these two, son of Marjanah.

This statement was in fact more lethal than weapons. She said it while she, as well as the ladies of the Prophet’s family, was under capativity and their protector’s deads were on spearheads.

These words, too, took the tyrant from his throne to his grave. Before his servants and officials, these words made him realize the fact that he was the real defeated and the very unmasked, while the real triumphant was Imam al-Husayn (AS), the killed one, and his companions.

As he recieved these shocking words, ‘Ubaydullah, son of Marjananh, had nothing to say; he therefore spoke a word of wreak as an attempt to cover his failure and incapability to answer. He addressed her, “How do you see that which Allah has done to your brother?”

Bravely and steafastly, Lady Zaynab answered with words of triumph:
It was nothing but good. Those were peoples whom Allah knew they would be killed. They therefore came to the places where they would slain. Allah will gather you with them for judgment and sentences. See, who will be the triumphant on that day. Woe shall be you, son of Marjanah, then.

These words are surely a source of pride, not only for Lady Zaynab, but also for Islam and Muslims. They are also regarded as endless glory for the Prophet’s family.

Lady Zaynab’s situations in the royal place of Yazid, her situation with the Syrian man, and her everlasting revolutionary speech shook the Umayyad throne and revealed the baseless reality of Yazid and those who enabled him to come to power.

Lady Zaynab stopped against the tyrants so firmly that she represented the right and the justice perfectly. In all situations, she replied the tyrants courageously and faced their falsity with words of light that have perpetuated and acted as models of stopping against any tyrant for sake of the right and justice.

While she was surrounded by the policemen and the attendants whom were invited by Yazid to witness his false victory, Lady Zaynab replied each and every single word that Yazid said fearlessly until she unmasked him and proved the genuineness of his brother’s issue. Moreover, she threatened and showered at the tyrant with severe words of rebuke as if she was the governor and he was the captive. Referring to Verses from the Holy Qur’an and item of logic, she did not leave any argument to the tyrant. Her words were the swords with which Yazid and his likes have been killed.
The same thing she did before the other tyrant, ‘Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad who tried to gloat at her misfortunes, but all his attempts were faced by sharp words and a strong style that obliged him to keep silent. She ignored him completely, and that was enough shame for him.

Her intrepidity was clear during the journey of her brother after she had taken various honorable role in his undying revolution. She managed the Imam’s Affairs with a nonesuch activity despite the enemies’ seige. A single look at the bright face of her brother would remove any tiredness she might have felt.

She also took care of the children and harem after the Imam’s martyrdom, and that was really a hard mission that ordinary women cannot manage, The source of such power and firmness was that she understood Imam al-Husayn’s revolution perfectly and exerted all efforts for giving success to it.

As a matter of fact, this lady’s personality included all features of moral highness and perfection. Her Irfaan, tawakkul, taqwa, zuhd, shahamat, karamat, shuja’at, sabr, isteqamat, wara’, ridhaa, ikhlaas, eemaan, courage, resilience, steadfastness, patience, forbearance and submission to the Almighty Allah , are all second to none, and shall continue to inspire all people of conscience, dignity and reason who will learn her story, for all times to come, today, tomorrow and forever.

Allahumma salli aala muhammas wa aale muhammad.

Wiladat of Syeda Zainab Mubarak to all 🙂

Imam Ali’s (as) letter to Salman al-Farsi –

[ Imam Ali (as) wrote this letter to Salman al-Farsi, before his caliphate. ]

This world is like serpent – so soft to touch yet so lethal in its bite. Therefore, try to avoid
those things of this place which please you or allure you because this world will be with you
for a very short time and will be of very little use to you. Do not keep your mind fully
engrossed in mundane affairs because you know for certain that you will shortly leave this
world.
Be most wary and cautious of this vicious world at times when it allures and pleases you the
most because it is an old trick of this world that when a man is most happy with pleasure of
owning and possessing it, it suddenly deserts him and when a man is most confident of its
protection, help and love, it certainly forsakes him.
